Because the info people never quite figured out HTML? Yeah, that's flamebait, but info is really horrible. Not to mention their habit of making manual entries saying "oh, _we_ keep our doco in info - this manual page may well be a pack of lies!". You can't even use your usual pager on info files:-( I wrote my own "man" command that presents info like "man" output - it finds both info and man entries and asks you what you want.
