I believe you want transparent proxy services. The following doc outlines the process, as well as the background necessary to understand the process. It really is quite easy, so don't get overwhelmed by the document.
http://squid.visolve.com/white_papers/trans_caching.htm Point the new machines to the squid box as their gateway, and point the squid box to the router as its gateway. Understand that all traffic will flow through the squid box, but that only http (port 80) traffic will be proxied. Hope this helps. ps. All of the kernel settings in RH9 are already done, you just have to worry about the change in gateway in your DHCP scope, iptables, squid.conf, and the proc IP-forwarding (echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward). > -----Original Message----- > From: Kyle Gasho [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Friday, August 15, 2003 8:40 AM > To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' > Subject: Squid question > > > I'd like to setup squid as a proxy server for my small network (1-10 > systems), but I have some questions.
