You'd think it'd be that easy. It wasn't. I did try that, and got the same result. For some reason now, it absolutely must have an /dev/hdb otherwise it just won't boot. I know this isn't a BIOS issue because that's working just fine, with or without the drive. This is a Grub booting problem and I can't figure out -what- exactly.
