This is indeed an annoying feature.  Why don't you offer to pay the
author(s) of said programs to remove it or perhaps provide a patch which
does so?

What makes me want to barf is people who bitch about free software while
doing little or nothing to help it improve.  I'd wager that you have
contacted exactly 0 authors and submitted 0 bug reports about this yet
think complaining in a public forum is appropriate and will somehow
accomplish anything.

Incidentally, I *do* agree with the point of your complaint, just not
how and where you presented it.

Finally, don't forget: you can always ask for a refund <wink>.
