Good information at http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/
They list a lot of models and links to user's pages.

I'm running RH9 on Toshiba Satellite 1110. Basically OK, only the driver for
PCMCIA was a problem (which I think is disabled in RH9 anyway?). I had to
recompile the kernel following the procedures at
http://home.gagme.com/greg/linux/toshiba1115.php
Of course if you don't need PCMCIA slots that wouldn't be a problem.

Power management is not working - there seems no way to put it into sleep mode
(or suspend or whatever its called) - or more precisely, no way of waking it
up again. This can be sort of serious if you use it a lot on batteries.

But all other bits are working, including sound card and softmodem (using the
Smartlink driver mentioned on the above web page). Haven't tried the CD
Rwriter.

Cheers
Stephan
