I am not quite sure what is going on but something disturbing happened when
I was trying to read mail in Communicator 4.04. The first message seemed to
transfer, then it killed on me. I tried to retrieve mail a couple of more
times to no avail. I then tried running a couple of other programs.

Nothing really crashed per se but I kept getting error messages like 'out
of space' or something odd.

So I did a df to see if I was really low on space. When I did this, my
root partition (/ ) did not show up. I rebooted, and it still didn't show
up with a df.

The bootup messages didn't show anything abnormal. I also forced it to do a
disk check (fsck) on bootup and everything seemed ok - but still no sign of
/ with a df. Also, the fstool keeps giving me an error message about the
partition.

Obviously something strange is going on. Isn the root partition where the
boot information is kept? If this wasn't mounting, wouldn't I be unable to
boot? Is it possibly just a problem with the partition table or something?

If anyone has any clues I would appreciate some help. If you need any more
info let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Tom
