I had bad experiences on many clients when upgrading a distro with
Ximian installed.
I want to keep my workstations as safe as possible.

The Ximian installer uses RPMs too, that's a package system, nothing
else.
The probleme lies in dependencies, what packages are
removed/changed/modified/replaced etc.

I simply don't want any single Ximian package that replace the redhat
ones on any of my systems.

My question was implying that there was someone who compiled and/or
tried any of the RPM done for RH9 available from the web, and NOT those
provided by Ximian as they made some modifications in many libraries,
whose modifications can cause problems in a near future for upgrading
purposes.
