huh! In your first post you loaded dnsalias.net as a zone(domain name), but the SOA refered to palmetto.dnsalias.net as a zone ( a delegated domain name). Meaning all A records would be relative to the domain name specifed. i.e. www.palmetto.dnsalias.net I think your confusing a host name (Fully qualified domain name) with a domain name (a zone).
