How you want to back up depends on several things: * What kind of data do you want to backup? Databases and similar data stores have to have their own specialized backup procedure
* How many systems are you backing up? This will determine if you want an individual system or a networked system. * What kind of media are you backup up to? hard drive? tape drive? With Linux, you can even back up to Digital Video tape used by your digital camcorder (look up dvbackup).
