Sorry, forgot to mention also that when I connect with smbclient, I get a message like this:
session request to THIS.IS.MY failed (Called name not present) where THIS.IS.MY is the first 15 characters (including dots) of the server address. It doesn't seem to have any effect on the connection -- everything works fine... I get the same sorts of messages when I mount samba shares using mount -t smbfs...
