Where are these conventions defined? I can't find anything about it. I mean, on RH90 the man page for 'useradd' claims to follow these conventions. I came here looking for the reasons for what I cannot create usernames containing uppercase letters (same for groupadd).
And, does anybody know a more simple solution other than editing the files involved (/etc/passwd & /etc/group), or compiling a previous-distro or unix-standard version of useradd?
