I am still in the process of figuring this out. I have in front of me a Compaq (HP) nx9010 notebook. I cannot install RH 8 or 9. While booting, the screen freezes at Loading ohci1394. I am able to install RH7.3 without a hitch (no firewire drivers yet), and I have upgraded the kernel to the very latest (no problem). I cannot disable the firewire port in the BIOS. I have tried linux ohci1394=off prior to the boot process to no avail. I have also tried the noprobe option also to no avail. The driver the Compaq (HP) uses is the Texas Instruments ohci 1394 host controller. I would much appreciate some input to this input issue.
