I belive is something slowly the "Timing buffered disk reads" !!
just 9.61 MB/sec , with IDE disk ? and with machine !!! I belive it most be
better !

look it:
hdparm  -Tt /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
 Timing buffer-cache reads:   128 MB in  0.23 seconds =556.52 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads:  64 MB in  2.26 seconds = 28.32 MB/sec

I was over a regular PC  P4 at 1Gz  , with a IDE disk 40 GB
