Now I remember why I stopped using the Ximian desktop.
Having an up to date desktop was nice but stability and consistency
is much better.
Seriously, unless there's a feature that you absolutly need in Evolution 1.2,
I would recommend staying with the Red Hat package.
Obviously, the warning comes a little too late.

Given the fact that "troll" and "flame" have been used only once each
in this discussion, I wonder if you're not over-reacting a tad.

While I agree that using a Linux distribtion isn't without its drawbacks
(and you're absolutly right in regards to documentation), I really think
that we can help you if you explain what it is you're looking for.

You're already been pointed to apt and synaptic from the freshrpms site.
These two apps should allow you to easily install:

- sylpheed-claws
- gkrelm
- mplayer
- xine with DVD support
- xmms with mp3 support

These apps won't solve all your problems but hopefully, they'll go a long
way towards doing so.

Why don't you tell us what other problems you have?
I'm not saying we're going to make this perfect for you but maybe we
can suggest something. It sure beats waiting for RH 8.1 .
