I'm having trouble getting my mixed network (OS/2, Windows 3.11,
Windows 95, & RH 5.0) to talk to each other via NetBIOS calls. I
believe it is because Linux is using "NetBIOS over TCP/IP", while
OS/2 & Windows use pure NetBIOS. (OS/2 can be selected to use
*EITHER* NetBIOS or NetBIOS over TCP/IP.)
I can link the OS/2 & Windows machines just fine, and all the
machines via TCP/IP, but cannot access remote printers via LAN
Manager or Samba from the Linux machine.
There must be a way of doing so, however, I just can't figure it out.
I've read the HOW-TO on SMB, and have the daemons activated. I'm
also sure that I've got the network name set consistently across the
machines.
Can anybody further explain the differences between NetBIOS & NetBIOS
over TCP/IP, and how I can get Linux to talk pure LAN Manger (aka
NetBIOS)?
Thanks.
