Yes, that's the price you have to pay when you want KDE packages not
being shipped by Red Hat, but also Red Hat's update packages. You
got to choose between Red Hat's KDE packages and packages from other
sources.

With the GUI version of up2date -- just as with the kernel package --
you get the chance to mark ignored packages prior to downloading
and installing them.

I don't understand this question. Downloaded packages, provided that
you configured the tool to not delete them, are kept in
/var/spool/up2date.
