I installed slrn-0.9.6.4-2.i386.rpm from the RH 7.1 distribution. The latest
stable version of slrn is 0.9.7.4, released on 2002-03-13. I have searched
all the usual places and cannot find a RH 7.1 slrn-0.9.7.4.i386.rpm.

Rpmfind does have a slrn-0.9.7.4-1 RPM for i386 from RedHat-7.3. However, I do
not believe I can install 7.3 rpms on 7.1 because of library differences. Even
if I downloaded the source slrn-0.9.7.4-1.src.rpm and tried to rebuild, I
would be stuck with dependency problems in the library:

Requires

    * slang >= 0.99.38
    * ld-linux.so.2
    * libcrypto.so.2
    * libc.so.6
    * libdl.so.2
    * libm.so.6
    * libslang.so.1
    * libssl.so.2
    * /usr/bin/env

The libcrypto stuff comes from openssh package and I really do not want to
start messing around with it and screwing up a ton of stuff.

What is the easiest and safest way to upgrade slrn to slrn-0.9.7.4 on a RH 7.1
system?

Thanks.
