On the C610, there's a BIOS screen setting that describes aspects of the
system behavior on battery and on A/C.  One of those settings is the lid
action.  The default is suspend on battery and remain active on A/C.

Now in my case, if I want to suspend, I need to unplug and close the lid.
If I use the <Fn>-<Esc> keyboard combo to suspend, then the fans come on
full speed on resume and won't shut off.  Haven't tried apm -s yet, but it
would be an annoyance to have to use that.
