Don't know what went wrong.....but.... After you get the .....disabled for 5 minutes....message you should be able to login from login prompt. Login as root and run Xconfigurator if you are running 7.3 or below. If running 8.0 then run redhat-config-xfree86. It seems that somehow your "X" configuration has gotten hosed.
