I suppose you could modify the scripts, but I think cron does the su
before it starts the scripts. I think it would be easier to make a
/root/private directory in which to hide things from the users. I've just
gotten used to keeping important things in a directory under my login, and
about the only thing under /root are .rpm files of packages I've
installed.
