My bad, I wasn't aware that it hung during an OS installation. I thought it was only haning on init 6. If you've replaced the SCSI adapter, cabling, and tape unit, then you've covered everything I can think of. Keep in mind that if you swap out a drive you'd probably have to reboot. Not saying you didn't, but just covering the bases. If you've swapped out all points of failure and the installed the OS again, I'm out of suggestions.
