Rick, Thanks. It finally worked. I put .... any net 10.0.254.248 gw 63.214.2.234 netmask 255.255.255.252 in the "static-routes" file under /usr/sysconfig/.
In other words, to add specific route on to a specific interface, I probably need to put the same info in a different place, I guess, as other people suggested. My objective has been accomplished by your suggestion. And I don't have time to pursue the other way. But I couldn't find any description for the other options. By the way, if this paticular change is an official one, it should be documented somewhere in RedHat. I found the original one in the RedHat web search : http://www.redhat.com/support/resources/tips/Network-Config-Tips/Network-Con fig-Tips-4.html At least this description has to be changed.
