There should be a bios option. > - bad memory??? > - bad CPU??? > > Here is what I have in the box: > > Motherboard: Asus A7N8X DX Did you mess with any of the bios settings? If so write down what you did and then try to set the bios to a default setting. Ccheck this link for any information on AMD's recommendation for motherboards: http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_869_4348%5E4351,00.html Also check power supply. > CPU: AMD xp1700 (I think this is a 1.5GHz chip) 1.47Ghz. Did you get a box CPU? A box that is from AMD with approved cooler? Double check from AMD.com > Hard drive: 60G Maxtor 7200rpm. I typically put HDs on their own chain from the CDRW/DVD drives. Ensure that the cable is one of the newer 80pin type. Ensure the HD is set to Master. I dislike cable select. > Video: Geforce4 Should be fine for normal install. The board support what I believe to be combinations of two or three DIMMS. How many DDR RAM do you have? The manual said something about combinations of slot 1+2, 2+3, or 1+2+3 > Any thoughts? I read through the manual to see if there is anything that I need to do (e.g. jumper pins). The I hook in the basics: CDROM, 1 HD, Video. I then check the bios settings. After you are happy with this you can either install RedHat after which you install any remaining hardware. Or install all hardware first.
