Since you say this was in a P133 hopefully it's an older modem(easier to get working). fourth, is anything using the onboard serial ports on the motherboard(if there are any?) fifth, if not, then can you disable the ports in the BIOS of the motherboard?(helps to rule out resource conflicts) sixth, after disabling the ports when you boot the system does it detect anything different serial port wise? Can you access the modem with something like minicom ?
