Hi everyone,
I've been using RedHat 8.0 for a few weeks but I could use some help
with an odd problem I've encountered. My CD-ROM died whilst I was
upgrading some packages. Now, I don't know if that is related to what
happened next. I rebooted the machine everything was fine, but eth0 did
not load correctly. I go the network settings applet (Main Menu->System
Settings->Network) and I get the following warning message:

Warning (Will Robinson, well it didn't say that but it feels like it
should)

"eth0 has an alias to module eepro100 in modules.conf, instead of
currently loaded module CDC Ethernet Class! <OK>"

Which is all very sensible since I have an Intel EtherPro 100B. I can
find no reference in any of the config files I've looked at (ifcfg-eth0
in various places, modules.dep, modules.conf, network or hosts) to a CDC
Ethernet Class.

ifconfig reports eth0 is there but it cannot activate it. I've worked
around the problem by creating eth1 pointing to the same hardware (Intel
EtherPro 100B) which works but it is not a fix.

This is very likely one of those slap your head, "Oh that's what it is!"
questions, but I am stuck. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Peter
