Brian,
If you're speaking of your xterms, look in
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults/XTerm
for system-wide defaults. You can incorporate this
information into your ~/.Xdefaults for user-specific
defaults.
In your ~/.Xdefaults try
xterm*font: 12x24
and work from there.
Look around in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/
for more font sizes.
