Linux was a fair bit faster than Solaris, although both are pretty good performers. I'm still most interested in Linux vs. Digital tho :) The Linux vs. Solaris on UltraSparc benchmark comparisions are lying around on the web somewhere. A semi-inteligent search on yahoo, etc. should find it.
