You must have just upgraded your machine to Red Hat 5.0 :-}. This is a bug
in the version of traceroute that comes with RH 5.0. The manual page for
traceroute says that it will use the routing table to figure out what
interface to try tracing through, but it doesn't. Apparently it just
chooses the first interface it finds.

Use the "-ieth1" or whatever if you want to trace a route that goes
through another interface.

Just another glitch of RH 5.0 :-(.
