I just thought of something that maybe I should bring up... The controller
in this 486 is an ISA card. I don't know what the specs are on ISA but if
any card can't support 1Mb/s floppy it is probably an ISA. I just found a
VESA card I could put in there (I didn't think of it before because I had
other systems to try it in). Do you know if a VESA card should support
1Mb/s throughput on the floppy controller or does that vary from card to
card?

I actually have two VESA cards. one is a Vision QD6500 and the other some
no name brand. They both seem to have the same chips which likely have
something to do with the controller on them though. a UMC UM82C863F and a
UMC UM82C865F . I have no sheets on these cards so I have no idea what the
specs are. luckily they have the jumper settings printed on the back. Can
you or anyone verify these cards should give the needed 1Mb/s ?

thanks for any suggestions,

rob
