Hello:

I'm looking at a server with a hardware RAID (level 5) controller to allow
hot-swapping and fault-tolerance of 4 x 4Gb SCSI drives. I was
thinking of going with the Adaptec AAA-131 but several people here have
warned me otherwise (plus, I've been burned by Adaptec in the past -- 2920
SCSI card).

What options are available for hardware RAID? I've done some web surfing
on the topic but all I've run into are disappointments. I like the Mylex
controller which seems to be supported (is it?) but the price of the unit
is much higher than the 131.

I've heard good things about Linux software-RAID but I have rather strong
doubts about convincing management to go with it. :-)

Cheers...
