Hi,

I'm wanting to install linux on a second harddrive on my win95
machine with out using lilo on the MBR as I want to take the second
HDD out once I return home, so reading through the howto it says to
use loadlin, so I grab the file from sunsite and it's tared as well
as gziped.

Now, considering that I don't have a running linux system, just how
does one go about unziping and untarring the file to check possilbe
readme's or documentation before going ahead with the linux install.

I would have thought that loadlin (being for dos) would be zipped
only?

So having found this out, should I just go ahead and install Linux to
this second hdd and how do I get a running linux to untar this file
to allow me to boot linux from dos? :)

Pete
