I've recently gone through the same thing. I had the same problems with
the enlightenment DR-.12 rpms and couldn't get DR-.13 to compile either.
I found getting all the libraries needed by enlightenment set up on Red
Hat 5.0 a royal pain in the butt. I did get the latest test of DR-.14 to
compile and run. It's supposed to be officially released sometime this
week. You can find the DR-.14 demo along with all the latest versions of
the libraries needed at ftp://ftp.labs.redhat.com/pub/raster 
This did work for me, though you'll probably have to go through a little
more cursing and swearing before everything works. It's worth it though
cuz it looks fantastic.
