Been using it for a few months now myself. ( infiniteworlds.dyn.ml.org

I use one of the client programs ( mlupd ) avalible from the web site
to update the ip number at ml.org's DNS.

The easiest way besides me telling you to read the network howto's is
to get a copy of linuxconf ( not the RedHat version ) and it really
speads things up. If you have a working PPP then your 90% there. Just
make your domain name whatever you have gotten from ml.org for
everything. Then give your system some aka's ( such as mail, pop, news,
www, etc ) just so it's easier should you expand later and move those to
other systems ).

I use a crontab to update ml.org every 15 minutes, this is overkill
since it could also just be done from the ifup script for ppp0 for post
connections. However I was having problems with linxuconf taking over
boot scripts and I had to add ifup ppp0 to rd.local to make sure my 56k
connection to internet worked so my gateway system would always be live
(it's on a power unit )

I can run mailing lists, have telnets, run muds, run a web server, etc
all fine with the dynamic IP. Whois dosn't work - since your network is
really a sub net of ml.org. Also if you set up your localhost DNS ( or
atleast somewere should you want to set up an old 486 as a DNS ) local
then you can have your own sub-domain names ( ie machines ) otherwise
your single system is the hostname you get from ml.org ( ie
cyberman.infiniteworlds.dyn.ml.org is effectively the same as
infiniteworlds.dyn.ml.org from an outsiders perspective telneting
through via ml.org's name server entry for your IP number. In real life
telneting to yourdomain.com would not work and you would get a host not
found probably unless the admins had the local DNS to go to a default
host in the network )
