Hey all, Noticed some pretty odd/scary behavior in the useradd command, (Intel RH 5.0 x86), has anyone else seen this or know if useradd is now 'just broke, doesn't EVERYONE use control-panel?' :) Example of problem: useradd -d /export/home/test -ptest test This will enter the UNENCRYPTED password into /etc/passwd OR /etc/shadow depending on if you're using shadow passwords or not. Running `passwd test` will correctly set the password. Sort of odd, pretty scary if anyone uses useradd to add users on a LAN w/out shadow passwords if the sysadmin uses only one or two passwords for all new accounts(yeah I know, bad practice, but I know a few that do this routinely) and asks the user to change it. Anyways, same behavior on 2 different RH 5.0 systems, one w/ all errata patches, the other unpatched.. Ideas on this one? |============================================================================| | Scott Wegener | Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | Programmer Analyst |==========================================| | Alphatronix | URL: http://members.tripod.com/~wegster | | Research Triangle Park, NC | | |============================================================================| | There can be no greater Hell that that known by those who have been forced | | to program in COBOL. | |============================================================================| -- PLEASE read the Red Hat FAQ, Tips, Errata and the MAILING LIST ARCHIVES! http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-FAQ /RedHat-Errata /RedHat-Tips /mailing-lists To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
