Probably fvwm95 or fvwm2 made to look like fvwm95. At least that's how
it's been since Red Hat 4.0 I think. The process starts with the
script /usr/X11R6/bin/startx, which eventually I think traces back to
the scripts /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc and /etc/X11/xinit/Xclients, all of
which behavior is overridden if you have either ~/.xinitrc or ~/.Xclients.
Something like that anyway.
I'll throw in a few extra cents. I have tried to set up Metro X a handful
of times now, using two different but both supported video cards, and it
has never been a real swell experience. I'm pretty devoted now to
XFree86. Also, don't listen to anybody that says the kde is the way to
go. It isn't true, necessarily, though I guess it's worth a try if you
want. I personally think the kde is kinda junky.
