my isp runs a 50000 user mail server ( pop and smtp separate ) 

smtp are 3 suns doing round robin and qmail 

pop is a sunsparc  with 2 ultrasparc 250 cpus 512meg of ram and a 10gig
spool ( more or less) and qmail
