Hi,
I've just had a big crash. My HDD is broken, so i have reinstalled a RH5 on
another one. Now what i need to do is restore my old config from a DAT
backup. I have saved my system using dump 0sf 61000 /dev/st0 / but now i
have problems to restore. I have tried the restore command using :
restore -ivf /dev/st0
so i'm in interractive mode. What i'd like to do is get my passwd, group and
sendmail.conf (or .cf) in a temp directory then copy them where they have to
be. (what else do i need to restore the config ?)
So when i'm on interractive mode, i can ls or cd on the DAT whithout any
problem but i can't extract : when i try the extract command, it says :
Specify next volume #: and i don't know what to answer, i've tried
many things, but all it tells me is that Volumes numbers are positive
numerics. then it says : "you have not read any tapes yet", and then :
"Unless you know which volume your file(s) are on you should start with the
last volume and work towards towards the first"

Please help me because now i know the restore man by heart both in french
and english version but i'm afraid i can't go further alone as i'm just a
newbie.

Just another question if someone has time but as i haven't read the man
concerning this problem, feel free to ignore : i've just sat up my network
config, but when i try to telnet to my server from another box, i just get
"Red Linux release 5......" but not the login prompt. I'm sure it's only a
telnet config problem but if someone has a quick answer i'd be thanksfull.

Thanks for your time.
       JY
