I have had this problem with some releases, but other releases have been
fine.

7r2 is working fine for me, i.e. 7r2 is the default application for my RB
projects.

I've always thought it was a local config problem, never occurred to me it
was an RB problem. I recall forcing some OS X system file to rebuild that
supposedly managed the process, and it worked ok for a while. Setting the
default app via Getinfo doesn't "stick" when I am experiencing the problem.

I've been experiencing this under OS X.4.x. I can't recall if I saw the
problem under 10.3 and prior.

By the way, Aaron Ballman has posted a great blog entry explaining the
"whys" of this problem in the Windows version of RB. Interesting reading
although I assume the Mac issues are not directly related.
