Another poster has suggested JGR. Don't particularly like Java much. At the moment I am more inclined (if it bugs me enough to do something myself about it) to try porting sciview-R as a hybrid libwine application with wingcc, and I did have a look at the 14MB source code bundle - it has a lot of binary-only bits which does not look as if they belong there or be redistributed.
