Using -Werror for releases seems ambitious to me, especially that GCC is very adept at generating them. I've removed the flag, and it builds [0] on macppc. Tests pass as well. Same thing for amd64 where there is no warning at all to start with. Comments/feedback are welcome! Charlène.
