hi there,

i am getting the following error when trying to play an .mkv file:

mplayer:
X11 error: BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)

vlc:
.: Fatal IO error 35 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0

sometimes vlc starts playing the file, but the playback is
quite choppy (on a recent notebook).

an mplayer faq at
http://wiki.multimedia.cx/index.php?title=MPlayer_FAQ
says that on an intel card the option
Option "LinearAlloc" "8192"
should be added to the device section.

now that i haven't been using an xorg.conf file for
so long, can anybody tell me what is the easiest way
to dump the default xorg.conf so i can add that option
for testing?

also, while one of the notebooks i use does have an intel
card, the other is running under vmware.

and any other files play ok so far.

anyone know anything about this one?
anything like this happened to others?

i am on -current.
