I think it indeed makes sense to wait. For the next 1,5-2 weeks, I certainly won't have time to do any backports of patches or do testing of those. If you feel like it you can work on that but I think waiting is easier. https://blog.torproject.org/new-alpha-release-tor-browser-160a9/ says that upstream hopes to ship Tor Browser 16.0 in September, which would be based on the new 153 Firefox ESR.
