Hi,

Thanks for your help on this, I really appreciate it.

I have not yet worked out the dependencies yet. I am merely preempting
what I need to do. I am trying to get a basic system + xetex, so that
there is no need to mess around with this, however its not as easy as
it first sounds.

I spent about 3 days writing python scripts to separate the trees for
me and it seems to work, but I am having to modify what texlive would
distribute, because the full distro is too big. Hard to explain. If
you were closer home I would suggest a meeting to hack this out,
however .de isn't close.

Is 150 (ish) MB too big for a "base" install? This is the easy option
(in theory) , i havent yet tested this because I assumed it is too
big. This texmf subset is called scheme-medium, in tex terms, however
it does not include xetex, and therefore introduces the config file
problems (ie i cannot overwrite already installed files, as ports will
moan). What do you think? Is that too large?

PS. Are you at ccc in berlin this year?
