A note about libraries. At the moment most of the libraries are built statically (sources supplied in the distribution). I would like to have as many libs link against system libs as possible. Do you agree?
I have no time right now, but i think i'll get a few free minutes at the weekend (i'm one of the instantly LaTeX-choosing users).

Hm, i've read already about this though the current LaTeX-destribution still works very well for me. But on the other side i agree to switch to something maintained.
Yes teTeX works for me too. But sooner or later we will be manually downloading new parts of the texmf tree that are not in teTeX.
And please strip all commented/unused variables... they hurt my eyes ;-)
I am planning to. I only started hacking on this yesterday :P
