    What's the point in installing 30 MB of code that never gets run?
What are the great advantages of _replacing_ GD 1.8.x with 2.0.x in the
first place?  Pfstat, mrtg, rrdtools, even php-gd have been happily
using the old version for years, what's wrong with keeping it around?
I'm asking for an _option_, not a complete back off, sheesh.

  All this reminds me of Gentoo Linux ports, where it used to be common
for 4 KB scripts to depend on Emacs...
