Ha! You don't live in Ireland mate. We've got the IEDR (Irish Domain
Registry) over here selling domains for IEP100 a pop, plus VAT @ 21%. After
the first ten (IEP1210!), we get to sell them at IEP40 + VAT. They still
use templates for registration. No WHOIS. No generics. No personal names.
Documentation required right, left and center. Of course, there are proposals
to remove/relax some of the rules, but they've been on the table since
February.

Ok, so maybe ICANN are even worse, but we have other worries. No DSL, and no
answers about DSL. No date set for local loop unbundling. Vastly overpriced
Internet and telephone connections, from all providers. Incompetence and
lackadaisical attitude from all providers (bar one cellular provider). A
virtual monopoloy by the previously semi-state telco, which has four
directors with zero shares in the company.

Ah, politicians you say! We've got two major tribunals at the moment, looking
into planning permission corruption, tax evasion, and miscellaneous other
corruption scandals. Ex-ministers feature heavily, including an ex-Taoiseach
(Prime Minister). Laughter ensues in the public gallery on a regular basis,
in responses to comments like, "I didn't have any money at the time".

Well, that's up to you. I don't have any expired domains that I want, and as
you can see, I have enough on my plate at the moment... :)

Ditto Ireland.

You might mention the fees ICANN want to charge CENTR while you're at it...
