PDX is actually CenturyLink territory. Some of the surrounding areas used to be Verizon, but have been sold off twice since then.
As for routers, I have been trying to get a Linux system to work plugged directly into the ONT, and have not yet gotten it to work. I do know the factors that need to be employed. Yes, pppoe creds is one of them, and a wide variety of dedicated router boxes support that. What is less widely supported, yet also required for a fiber connection to work, is VLAN tagging. People have placed a managed switch in between the router and ONT to get around this problem, by tagging the traffic for you. Good luck, have fun! -wes On Fri, Dec 11, 2020 at 4:48 PM TomasK <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi, > > Does any one has Verizon Fios fiber service and own router? > > I am setting it up ISP with them remotely and would love to hear what > to expect on the day one - when I plug my router into their ethernet > socket/switch/OTN. > > Do I need to ask them for anything in advance? ppoe credentials? .... > > I know - PDX is Verizon ISP teritory ... still maybe some expats would > know. > > Thanks, > Tomas > _______________________________________________ > PLUG: https://pdxlinux.org > PLUG mailing list > [email protected] > http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug > _______________________________________________ PLUG: https://pdxlinux.org PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
