And as I recall I got thumped for saying that and other bits of advice about 
gensets.

I have been using LiTime batteries and chargers. Good prices, good products, 
good service.
Regarding the "worked last year" generators. Most users, generators should be 
run monthly for at least 30 minutes on a load. I hook a 1500 watt space heater 
on mine. Critical applications with permanently wired in units should run them 
weekly. When I was a broadcast engineer and previous radio sites, our backup 
generators automatically ran every week and we did load transfer tests monthly.
If you are not willing to do the due diligence of regular exercising the backup 
power, don't bother putting it in. It won't work when you need it.
