Indeed I did have two USB drive copies, and a CD copy. I was
in the midst of writing an updated version of the USB copy
when the "bus errors" started happening. I had the other
older copies, but I did not want to lose my updates.

The presentation machine was an improperly configured WinVista
box, which had problems with Javascript (something else was
preloaded which ate keyclicks before they got to my
presentation's Javascript). It also ate the backspace click
from their wireless remote. I did not want to get into that
zoo if I could avoid it.

A general problem with Win PCs is that the owners don't know
what is running on their machines, or have weird security tools
that semirandomly prevent innocent activity, and the owners are
afraid of making things worse. Many attendees ran Linux at home,
but did not bring anything with them. Most of these folks are
in their 60's to 80's, and program in solder and aluminum.

There were a few Mac laptops about, and I suppose I could have
recruited one of their owners, but as mentioned before, I already
had things working on the Ubuntu machine.

BTW, most amateur satellites have small embeddded computers with
simple programming, a la PIC32, but no operating system. They
were quite interested in the ALIX I showed them to demonstrate
low power computers, but for ground apps. In orbit, they have
only a few hundred milliwatts for computer and and audio DSP,
and don't have an OS.
