Scribus is a page layout application focused on graphic-centric
publications. LyX/LaTeX is a typesetting application designed for
text-centric publications.

Regardless, if you want to produce your books in Scribus, then forget
LaTeX. You'll never be happy as it is not suited for your oft-expressed
preferences. Stick with Scribus and accept what it allows you to do.
